Blanco Renaissance Museum

Antonio Blanco Museum is located on Jalan Raya Campuhan-Ubud, the museum is situated on a hilly land surrounded by the Campuhan River as a complement to its beauty. At first, the area of ​this museum belonged to the last King of Ubud from Puri Saren Tjokorda Gede Agung Sukawati, before finally given to Antonio Blanco.

Antonio Blanco was a Spain-American painter born in Manila, Philippines at 15 September 1912 and died in Bali on December 10, 1999. Before settling in Bali, he spent much of his life time moving from country to another country in search of inspiration for his paintings. Some of the countries he has visited are California (USA), Florida (USA), Hawaii, Cambodia, Japan, and finally arrived in Bali. After his arrival in Bali, He married a girl named Ni Ronji in 1953, a traditional Balinese dancer.

For him, Bali is a perfect place to bring inspiration for painting, ranging from the serene environment, culture, tradition, love, and the incredible natural scenery made Antonio Blanco more eager to pursue his career on painting. On December 28, 1998 the museum was built it was so majestic, beautiful, and comfortable then inaugurated on September 15, 2001. The museum is named as “The Blanco Renaissance Museum” and it has collection of more than 300 works of Blanco to be exhibited to all visitors from everywhere around the world.

When you enter the Museum area, you will see beautiful ornaments and statues. The Shiva Statue that has 4 hands at the park, abstract statue at the entrance gate, dragon statue, golden statue of Balinese dancer at the balcony of the building and huge pillars on the floor first that looks majestic.

The paintings at Antonio Blanco Museum are neatly hanged on the walls of the first floor rooms up to the second floor. All the paintings display at the Museum Antonio Blanco explicitly tells about his admiration for the beauty of the feminine element that we can easily find in each of his works until the end of his life.

In Antonio Blanco Museum there is also a chamber called Erotic Room which displays a large collection of paintings featuring the elegance of male and female body. However, to enter this chamber visitors must be over 17 years old. In Antonio Blanco Museum there is also a painting studio that is often used by the maestro to paint.

Many important people from Indonesia and abroad were infatuated by the magnificent beauty of his works such as President Soekarno, Adam Malik, President Soeharto, Michael Jackson, and Prince Norodom Sihanouk.
