A Glimpse of History and Culture of Nusa Penida

A long time ago before Nusa Penida has known as a popular destination for tourism, it was known as one of the most important spiritual sites in Bali. Some temples and holy sites were built on this island and luckily some of them are open for tourists to learn about the history and Bali’s culture. One of the most important temples that always visited by the devotees during weekend or holiday is Pura Dalemped (also known as Pura Dalem Nusa), many sources have mentioned the history of this temple related to the Bali Ancestor named Ratu Gede Mas Mecaling. He was known as the powerful ancestor who had an ability to cure the sick, that’s why many locals and other devotees still come to this temple today hoping to get help from God to be healed from any sickness. There is also a very beautiful waterfall, with pretty extreme track because we can only reach the location by walking down a stair attach to a cliff. In the area of the waterfall you will find a temple dedicated to The Goddess of The Sea, many people come here to do purification bathe and pray in the temple.
