Indonesia now handels 96 positive CoVID-19 patients

As reported in the Bali Post, the government has updated the number of COVID-19 positive patients in Indonesia. Now Indonesia reported that 117 patients are registered and being treated.


Updated numbers & Presidential Decree

Government Spokesman for Corona Virus Handling, Achmad Yurianto said that until Saturday (3/14) afternoon there were 96 positive cases of COVID-19. "Today's update, the number of positive cases totals to 96 today - from yesterday we reported 69, now 96. There are 27 new cases added," Yurianto said at the 19th COVID Handling Acceleration Handling conference at Graha BNPB, Jakarta.

The addition was due to from tracing further potential infected people who have been in contact with current patients. Of 96 positive cases of COVID-19, five patients died so far.

Of the five patients who died, four patients came from the 69 first positive cases. While one person who died was a patient outside the 69.

Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo assigned Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo as Chair of the Task Force for the Corona Virus Disease-2019, in order to address the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19.

Based on Article 3 of Presidential Decree No. 7 of 2020, the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19 has five objectives namely,

  • first, to increase national resilience in the health sector.
  • Second, speed up the handling of the corona virus through synergy between ministries / institutions and local governments.
  • Third, increase anticipation of the development of escalation in the spread of COVID-19.
  • Fourth, increase operational policy making synergy.
  • Fifth, increase readiness and ability to prevent, detect and respond to COVID-19.
