Three Crater Lakes in Bedugul

There are three crater lakes that have become main attractions in Bedugul, along with exotic temples on each lakeside, Beratan, Tamblingan and Buyan Lake. All those three lake temples are actually considered as a sacred spot for Balinese because it has a history related to Ida Bethari Dewi Danu, The Goddess of the water in Bali who believed has been kindly blessed all areas in Bali with her holy water.

At the area of Bratan Lake we will find a majestic water temple called Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, which is located only one kilometre away from Bedugul traditional market, this temple was built on the 17th Century as a place to worship Ida Bethari Dewi Danu. We can also spot this temple embellished on fifty thousand Rupiah money paper, 2005 printed edition. This amazingly beautiful temple sits on the west side of Beratan Lake, the serene lake that has become an essential water source for many agricultural farms and rice fields in Tabanan. Up to North-west from Bratan Lake, only 10 minutes-drive away you will find Buyan and Tamblingan Lake nestled side by side separated only by a strip of land in between. Each of this lake also has a temple to honor The Ida Bethari Dewi Danu.
