Volcano Mount Agung

When Mount Agung erupts and the alert levels are set to 3 or 4 (4 the highest) the government starts to implement several measures to ensure the safety of the people in Bali. Most important for travelers is basically the question if the airport is opened and if their airlines keep flying.

Flight Status and Schedule Bali Airport, Transportation

You can check the current status of all flights coming into Bali and leaving Bali online on the website of the airport (click button below). Due to volcanic ashes some airlines will cancel flights at their own discretion even if the airport might be operational.
Airport authorities provide free shuttle services from the airport to Mengwi bus station and to the harbour of Padang Bai. Some airlines will reroute to Surabaya. The bus ride takes between 12 and 14 hours, including the ferry to Java.

Getting in touch with airlines

Please make sure  contact details that you gave the airline are up-to-date. Also, the social media pages and websites of your airline should have all the necessary information. Try to call the call centers first. Ticket offices in Bali are very crowded these days and you might have to wait for hours to get to the clerk.
